Mudhouse Mansion - Fairfield County OH Haunted Place

  • Fairfield County, OH
The Mudhouse Mansion is located just east of the city of Lancaster, in Fairfield County. Although the mansion itself was demolished in 2015 by the property owners, the grounds are known to be just as haunted as the house once was. Some of the eerie rumors surrounding the mansion included that of a government official that still kept slaves after the Civil War, and locked them up at night. Stories say that one of the slaves dug himself free one night and killed the entire family. The once slave is known to wander the grounds at night. Other stories say that the home was where a mass-murder or mass-suicide of a more recent family took place there. Then there's the story of the woman who killed her children and the woman who's husband killed their children.
