"This historic hotel was built in 1828 and was once a trading post and tavern with limited overnight accommodation. The building also served as a prison and a town ballroom throughout the century. The odd history of the location began in the 1840s after a farmer vanished from his room at the hotel in the middle of the night. A local man confessed to the murder years later, but never gave any reason as to why he did it. Guests and employees of the hotel have reported seeing the farmer walking through the halls after hours and have heard moans and screams from the room he stayed in.
Another story that surrounds the hotel is that of a woman who was locked in a room in the 1880s and had gone mad after accidentally killing her stepbrother. The furniture in the room she stayed in is often rearranged and eerie noises have also been heard coming from inside.
There is also a part of the inn that was once used as a prison cell by authorities when the location was a stopover point for travellers. It became quite common to lock up anyone overnight who was drunk and disorderly. One morning, an employee found one of the people dead in the prison cell, and days later, heard eerie noises coming from it. To this day, the door to the cell will not shut, and if it is, yells and pounding fists can be heard.
The spirit of a young girl has also been reported in the bar area, along with a ghost who moves objects around and is the blame for ghostly laughter that is often heard."
